ozTiVo Channel Updates

By banger@epgstream · June 7th, 2009

CogsWell it looks like the ozTiVo guys have redefined (and renamed) some of their “One” and “SBS” guide listings! Everyone will be happy to know that “SBS2″ now has guide listings and “One HD” and “One Digital” listings have now been broken down by their individual states.

The bad news is that we can’t update the channel changes until Monday night, being the long weekend and all. The good news is you can just update the channels yourself with the following, simplified steps:

  1. Launch the “XMLTV Download Settings” application.
  2. Navigate to and click on the “Channels” tab.
  3. Click the “Download Channel List” button.
  4. To add your “One HD channel, type “one-” (notice the hyphen) in the search box and select by checking theĀ One HD channel for your region.
  5. To add your “SBS TWO channel, type “sbstwo” in the search box and select by checking theĀ SBS TWO channel for your region.
  6. Click the “Save Changes” button to save your updated channel list.
  7. Click the “Close” button to exit the “XMLTV Download Settings” application.

From there it’s just a matter of re-downloading your guide data by launching the “XMLTV Download” application. Once the XMLTV download has completed, perform the following to see your new channels:

  1. Launch Windows Media Center.
  2. Navigate to: Tasks->Settings->TV->Guide
  3. Perform a “Get Latest Guide Listings” to import the newly added channel data.
  4. Perform a “Add Listings to Channel” to include the new channels. First select the TV channel, then select the guide to use.

Simple as that. If you need to edit the channel name of time zone settings then launch the “XMLTV Download Settings” application, select your channel and “right-click” it for more editing options. Likewise if you want to edit more channel information, just launch the “Guide Service Proxy Settings” applications for more options.

Needless to say, most users should be familiar with this configuration … Unless we’ve spoilt you with our Guide Wizard application? :D

Hi Banger, The wizard configs are still not right for Perth. The wizard configs still don’t have SBS 2 and the state-specific One-WA, and all the right settings in the Guide Proxy Settings > Channels tab. I have to do my own ChannelSettings.xml to get it to work. Is there anything I can do for the rest of the epgstream Perth community to get it all correct?

I am also continuing to have problems after following the instructions. Any help would be appreciated. I have donated twice in the last 12 months.
    Thanks.

is there a simple solution for assigning the downloaded channel listings to more than one media center channel. For instance when I have channel 7 at channel 7 and then again repeated at channel 77.

I am also having the One HD issue. It seems that when it downloads the listings, One HD is a virtual listing & refers back to “One”, not “One-”. So it does not pick up anything for the HD channel.

I edited my listings in VMC, however & told it to use the One-NSW listings for the channel, then renamed it back to One HD. It was at this point I found that this changed the listing name for One digital as well & it now came up with no listing. Had to leave them both with the same name & just remember which number is which in VMC.

    So far, so good…

Phew! You solved an annoying problem that used to take all kinds of juggling to achieve before this.

Have included programs for One HD, SBS2 and GO without tearing my hair out by following your clear instructions as follows

    1. duplicating the channels and renaming (not important what you rename to) as you suggest in XMLTV Download Settings. The important thing is that it gives a related tab for that particular channel when you “Add Listings to a Channel” via the Settings tab (see point 3).
    2. Updating in the Settings tab, with Get The Latest Guide Listings, and then adding the listings via…
    3. Add Listings to a Channel

Just love the ability to set recordings in advance via the WMC and we are all so grateful for the huge amount of time you guys dedicate to this project. Will donate again shortly to make up for my dismal donation the last time around.

Thanks – all sorted now. You’re right, the setup wizard spoiled us.
